Enjoy sporty

Lots of information is available in the leaflets and brochures at the reception of Village of Montmarsis. Our employees can help you. The weekly barbecue in Montmarsis is also a great opportunity to exchange experiences with other people. There are many activities offered, and lots of choices. From the village of Montmarsis, most “TO DO” activities can be reached by car in less than an hour. You don’t cover many kilometers, but the roads are sometimes narrow and take you through villages and towns. This often means enjoying the journey, the views and what you encounter along the way.

Canoeing or kayaking on the river

Due to the proximity of the Dordogne, you can perfectly enjoy this river and the views with the whole family while canoeing. With different starting points such as at the bridge of Groléjac or from the base of Vitrac you can make the circuit of the castles. From your kayak you can enjoy the castle of Beynac, the castle of Montfort, the castle of Castelnaud, the view of the walls of Domme or the picturesque village of La Roque-Gageac.

Swimming in recreational lakes or in the river

There’s nothing like a good splash in a lake to cool off. You can swim in a lake nearby: Ecoute s’il pleut, 500m from Village de Montmarsis. Games for children are available during the summer period.

Walking

At the reception of Montmarsis we have a wide range of walking and mountain bike routes. Did you know that the Chemin de la Compostela is not that far away? Your holiday destination is also the starting point of many routes and the center of Gourdon is easily accessible on foot.

Climbing and caving

There are many caves in the Gourdon area where you can go climbing and walk inside.! Follow a guide and experience discovering a cave.

A few kilometers from Montmarsis is the Falaise du Corbeau with climbing routes not only for beginners but also for more experienced climbers. Look forward to an article about the different sites in our blogs soon.

Fishing for wild carp, trout, pike or pikeperch.

There are many communal fishing lakes at Gourdon, Le Vigan, Salviac and many others and the rivers of the Dordogne, Céou and Lot. Don’t forget your fishing license!

Biking

In 2022 we enjoyed the Tour de France in the Lot! In 2023 we have the opportunity to welcome the WOMEN’s Tour to the Lot. Or get on your bike and enjoy the beautiful surroundings for a good time in the saddle.

A green cycle route also runs from Gourdon to Sarlat. The old railway line has been completely converted to offer you a green route through green valleys, water and roads. Everything protected from motorized traffic. Can’t bring your own bicycles? No problem! You can rent your bikes quickly and easily at Vélos Verts du Lot.

Golf

If you enjoy golfing, you will find several golf courses to practice your art. In Souillac, approximately 25 minutes drive away, there is an 18 hole golf course at Souillac Country Club and a 9 hole course at Domaine de Rochebois in Vitrac, also 25 minutes drive away.
