Come and discover the Bouriane region, nestled between the Lot valley, the Dordogne valley and the Causses du Lot! How can I explain to you that one stay is not enough to enjoy everything our area has to offer.

Visit the most beautiful villages in France

If you love French heritage and especially the most beautiful villages in France, you can enjoy our Lot department! You will find Martel, Rocamadour, Carennac, Loubressac, Autour, Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, Capdenac-Le-Haut and Cardaillac within an hour’s drive. In our neighboring department you will find Roque-Gageac, Beynac-et-Cazenac, Castelnaud but also Domme, Belvès and Monpazier

Visiting the castles

In the distant past, on the hill of Gourdon you could see a castle that dominated the area. Now you can enjoy the views of the countryside, lakes and forests. Along the Dordogne are the castles of Beynac, Castelnau, Montfort and the fortified village of Domme. Along the way you will pass castles, manor houses and towers and fortified villages scattered across the landscape. Some can be visited, others are still inhabited by their lords and ladies!

De Cahors : les circuits gastronomiques et oenologiques

You know Cahors from the Valentré bridge, the cathedral and the famous regional produce market. Of course the Cahors vineyards and their various plateaus are worth a visit. Stop at one of the many chateaux of this deep red wine. Cahors is best known for its excellent Merlot wines, which pair perfectly with one of the region’s favorite dishes, Magret de Canard and its foie gras!

Brocantes and (evening) markets

The strawberry festival, the bread festival and the medieval market in Gourdon are perfect opportunities to discover local products and dishes.

At the village reception you will also find a list of local markets! The many flea markets and garage sales are also well-known.

Museums

In Figeac, see a life-size replica of the Rosseta Stone at the Champollion Museum and learn about the man Champollion who discovered the stone to decipher hieroglyphs.
